Education exhibits will be in Exhibition Hall in 2008. Garden Clubs of this
area provide a world of information about a multitude of plants and garden
activities. Education exhibits allow show goers an opportunity to have every
question about plants, insects, plant diseases, trees, roses, hostas and so
many topics answered by experts. How do you care for roses? How did the
ice storm affect my trees? Will they live? What kind of trees should I plant?
How much fertilizer should I use? What grows well in the shade?

Bring your questions! Every answer is available to make gardening a success
in your yard.

Hat Contest

Ladies wearing a garden hat (fancy or functional), that is decorated with live or permanent flowers will receive $2 off gate ticket and will enter the Garden Hat Contest. Hat Contest runs from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Winner announced at 8:00 PM. First place prize is a $500 shopping spree from Tree Top Nursery and Landscape Inc. ($2 ticket discount does not apply to Seniors’ $7.50 ticket-however Seniors can enter the hat contest)

The evening is all about glamour and fun for the ladies! Special displays will be scattered in the Great Gardens in Expo Hall, Connecting Lobby, Convention and Exhibition Halls. Everything imaginable from getting a mini-massage to the greatest Garden Hair Cut (sit in the chair and receive the haircut right at show), anti-aging, skin care, groovy sunglasses, fabulous food and drink sampling, new weight loss magic, bead and silver jewelry making, hand care, hand and arm massage, stress management through yoga, floral arranging and much, much more.

Ladies Night to Have the Pleasure of Strolling Sweet Adelines

Enjoy the lovely sounds from two Sweet Adelines’ quartets as they stroll through all three halls on Ladies Night. Look for the Crew Quartet in their flashy red costumes: Vicki Ellis singing Tenor; Kimy Christie as Lead; Elaine Rice, Baritone; and, Pam Williams, Bass. Don’t miss SLQ Quartet, all in sassy blue: Melissa Cleary singing Tenor; Mary Halsig, Lead; Patti Plenert, Baritone; and, Bonnie Gleason, Bass. Both quartets are members of the Wichita Chorus of Sweet Adelines. Nationally acclaimed for their
beautiful singing and sound, their music is a beautiful addition to any event.

The Board of Directors of the Wichita Garden Show
Announces
The "Florals and Fine Art" Exhibition
To Be Held At The 2008 Show.

This exhibition features one piece each from some of the best
artists in Kansas. The fine art displayed will represent a variety of
styles, mediums and subjects. Kansas’ most talented floral arrangers
from the finest florist's shops, that are members of the Kansas State
Florists' Association, will create beautiful floral arrangement that
interprets the fine art. Each arranger will be assigned one piece of
art to interpret. The floral arrangement will be displayed next to the
art on the stage in Convention Hall throughout the Garden Show. The
purpose of the exhibition is to blend artistic design standards and
excellence of fine art with the grace and elegance of floral design.

PACKAGE PICK UP

New at 2008 Show – No need to carry purchases around –Drop them at the new PACKAGE PICKUP PLACE

Are you concerned about buying that new bird bath, or that new flower pot or those plants at the Show because you are riding the shuttle or it is too heavy to carry around! Your concerns are over! Just bring your purchases yourself or have the booth you are buying from bring the item to the Package Pick Up Booth- located by the east door of Expo Hall. It will be held there, you can see the show without carrying packages around. Check in your purchases or packages, ride the shuttle back to your car and drive right up to the front door of Expo Hall to pick them up. Your packages will be brought out to your car. Package Pickup Place is being operated by local Boy Scout Troops AND THEY WILL ACCEPT TIPS FOR SERVICE.


 

WILLOW THE 10-FOOT WALKING TREE

KIDS OF ALL AGES will love Willow, the 10-foot walking, talking tree Ent.

Willow is the Keeper of the Forest. His job is to protect all green things, such as our
trees and forests. He has something to say about being GREEN. Plan to have your
photo taken with Willow by the Official Show Photographer, My PictureMan. Walking
on stilts with a costume that weights over 50# and being 10 feet tall is no easy feat.
Don’t miss Willow!
