PRE-SHOW FLORAL DESIGN WORKSHOP
PRE-SHOW FLORAL DESIGN WORKSHOP "DESIGNS AND DESSERTS" | ![]() |
The Pre-Show Floral Design Workshop was an incredible success with 136
potential Amateur Flower Show entrants attending. All eyes and ears were treated to a floral feast of what to do and what not to do to create a
fabulous flower arrangement. The evening began with Barbara Tobia,
Chairman of the Amateur Flower Show Committee, encouraging participants to enter the amateur design and horticulture competitions at the Show and presenting information about the exciting new categories and staging. Norman Warminski, The Plant Doctor, reviewed the show schedule and gave hints on
successful entry and rules for all categories. J. R. Koontz and Gary
Hackbart, Jr. showed floral arrangements that were examples of various
classes for the forthcoming show. Then the masters of floral design, Messrs. Koontz and Hackbart, dazzled the group by creating arrangements with explanations of plant material selection, styles, technique and creativity.
The event closed with unveiling the award prizes, which are exquisite
crystal vases and bowls, donated by Award Sponsor, The First Place.
The Wichita Garden Show wishes to thank J. R. Koontz, Gary Hackbart, Jr., Mack Hibbard and Darnel Rowe for making the evening spectacular and the Wichita Garden Council for sponsoring the event. Without the support of so
many wonderful people, great things could not happen for the Wichita Garden Show.
