GREAT GARDEN E
By Stone Creek Nursery, LLC
“No Time For The Lake”

Sailing is in your blood; you miss the relaxation of the
wave and wind motion. You are a nautical family.  A picnic
by the lake is one of your families’ favorite things to do. Every weekend they beg to pack up the car and head to the lake.
You are tired of the disappointment on their faces when you
tell them you can’t be gone a full day or a weekend to make the three hour drive worth the trip. The kids are growing up and
time is slipping away. So-o-o, you make the decision to use
some of your retirement funds to bring the lake to your
backyard, says Andy Rizza, Stone Creek Nursery, LLC. Last
fall, the lake was built in your own backyard. It is big enough for the wind to catch the sails of your dream boat on a cloudy
spring day as you look to land and a sea of red flower carpet
roses framing the shore.  The sun-kissed lake is small enough
for the kids to wade and splash in with the dog, quiet enough
on the rocky south shore for Grandpa to cast a fishing line in
under the canopy of several cottonwood trees you saved.
Graceful bubble-gum pink crab apple trees burst alive with thousands of blossoms like a beacon.   Passion vines, with
bright sky blue blooms, eagerly climb up the thick piling ropes
next to the boat dock.  You notice the French Lace wiegleia
with their spunky variegated leaves of green and white are
about o explode with an array of pink flowers. The golden
privet hedge reminds you of a string of sunshine streaking
across the
east shore. The flowerbeds your wife planted
and cares for with pride are abounding with the red, yellow
and blue spring flowers that remind you of the colors of a
nautical flag. Right in the middle of that small garden setting,
she put the old sailboat you started out with as a monument
to memories on the lake. It made you laugh at the time but
now the landscape wouldn’t be right without it.  Sneaking in
a little nap, you lay your head back on the lounge chair, sitting
on the deck by the small boathouse.  As you are about to doze
off, the air comes alive with the buzz of a radio control boat,
letting you know your son is home from school and is having a blast.  As the sun goes down later in the day, you stand at the family room window, looking out at the lake, surveying the
picture-perfect setting, and you know you made the right
choice. You delight in knowing that an afternoon of relaxation
and peace is within your grasp any time you want.  The family
can spend hours and hours at home laughing and playing,
priceless moments sailing the lake, restful times together on
lazy afternoons, snatching a moment here and an hour there to play together.  Sometimes you just have to bring it all home!
