Having grown up in Liberal, Kansas, Mary During her commercial art years, she also painted commissioned portraits and figurative work while attending workshops given by noted painters, Everett Raymond Kinstler, David Leffel and Daniel Gerhartz. Along with her figurative work, Mary also produces western genre paintings of buffalo, cowboys, horses and landscapes. Mary had been surrounded by master level paintings her entire life. Her inspiration comes from her Great Uncle, William Waymon Adams, who was an accomplished painter and lithographer who practices in Indiana, New York and Texas. Waymon met her Aunt Margaret Graham Boroughs, also an accomplished painter, in William Marritt Chase's painting class in Italy. John Singer Sargent, Jules Bastien-Lepage, Nicolai Fechin, as well as a host of other American and French artists, continue to be her inspiration. Mary is professionally representated by the Southwind Gallery of Topeka, Kansas, the American Legacy Gallery of Kansas City,

| Select Kansas artists have been invited to paint something they see at the Wichita Garden Show - it might be one of the beautifully landscaped gardens, a garden product, a small portion of a garden, or a single flower, a brightly colored flower pot or a lavious garden path lined with spring flowers. The beauty of Spring abounds throughout the entire Show and is an artist’s paradise. The Wichita Garden Show Gate Ticket ($11.50) is the artist's entry fee for the Alla Prima Art Competition. |
