The 42nd
Wichita Garden Show
Annual Show Theme:  The "GIVING" Garden

Rather than spending hundreds of dollars on concerts,
his year the Show will become a 'GIVING' Garden Show".
Look for fun activities and contests at the show
where the public can win CASH OR PRODUCTS.

The word, GARDEN, means different things to different people.
Some think a garden is for growing vegetables only;
others see a rainbow of colorful flowers;
some see shrubs and trees in their garden; and yet,
another sees fruit trees; some people only like green grass,
while others consider the landscape of their yard to be
their garden.  Every definition is correct.

Each garden GIVES what you want it to give by virtue of
what you plant in it.  Depending on your expectations,
your garden may have a single "GIVE" or it may provide
multiple "GIVES":  beauty, color, fragrances,
flowers for the home, wind protection, shade to cool
the home, homes for birds and butterflies, wood for the
fireplace, food for the table--THE LIST IS ENDLESS.

INDEED, IT IS TIME TO FACT FACTS: your backyard may
very well GIVE you and your family a way to save a lot
of money this summer by providing a favorite
vacation spot in 2009 and by feeding your family.
The economic climate in the country right now, plus the up
and down price of fuel, is causing many people to rethink
how to make changes financially so they can continue
to have a good life. This might be the year to plant
that vegetable garden so you can afford to put fresh
produce on your table. Planting and working in
the garden can be a family project .  Maybe, this year
you will decide to skip the vacation on the road and
make your outdoor living space a spot of
beauty, a place to rest and relax and the perfect spot to enjoy
a meal, to fellowship and play with family and friends.

If this is to be your first vegetable garden, look for seminars
on how to plant it as well as observing the growth of a
vegetable garden in the K-State Research and Extension,
Sedgwick County Master Gardener's MID GARDEN
IN EXHIBITION HALL.

FOR EVERY EFFORT YOU PUT INTO IT,
GARDENS OF ALL KINDS WILL GIVE BACK TO
YOU TENFOLD.

Gather ideas for your own outdoor living space. --
You backyard should be an extension of your living
area in your house It is easy to create rooms without
traditional walls. You will definitely want an eating area,
with stone floor or patio and how about a quiet little
area in the garden just for you to curl up with a good book
and spend some downtime.

Don't forget to plan on an outdoor kitchen --
How would you like a den-size fireplace
right on your patio for the chilly evenings? or maybe a fire pit?
The Garden Show is the place to gather ideas, study needed
products and supplies, meet people who have knowledge and know-how.

WHEN YOU CAN SEE IT ALL AT ONE TIME AT THE

Acclaimed Indoor Gardens

"The 1/2 million dollar pride and joy of the Wichita Garden Show"

Six Great Gardens total over 20,000 square feet. The Gardens  are nationally recognized for excellence and are valued at  $1/2 million dollars.

  • "One of top ten in USA", 1995, House Beautiful Magazine;

  • Premier show for Home/Garden (HG) TV's Designer's Landscape, Gary Alan, 1998.

    Look closely --
    There's something just for you
The gardens are grand. While you may not need a 20 foot-tall waterfall or
one you can walk under or a geyser in your yard, in each garden there are
hundreds of ideas on landscaping, new and unusual types of blooms and
trees or features that will add charm to your garden and yard. Just what you have been looking for to make your GARDEN OF DREAMS COME TRUE.

BE SURE TO BRING YOUR CAMERA AND A NOTE PAD -- Take photos of
products and landscaping ideas for your reference when planning your garden/yard later at home. A note pad is a must if you are shopping prices, recording ideas, making sketches and keeping track of answers to those gardening questions.
